Data-Driven Selections

How Our Tips Are Selected

Every selection on Daily Nap is generated by a scoring model that analyses real racing data — not guesswork. We score every runner in every race across six key factors to find the statistically strongest selection.

The Scoring Model

Each morning, our system pulls the full racecards for every UK and Irish meeting from the Betfair API. For every runner in every race, we calculate a composite score out of 100 based on six weighted factors.

The highest-scoring horse in each race becomes our selection. The highest scorer across all races on the card is nominated as the NAP of the Day — our single best bet.

Selections are then enriched with race previews that explain the reasoning in plain English, giving you the full picture before you decide whether to bet.

Six Scoring Factors

Recent Form

0–25 pts

We analyse each horse's last 6 runs, weighting recent performances more heavily. Wins and placed finishes at a similar class level score highest.

Going Preference

0–25 pts

Every horse has a going preference. We check win and place rates on today's exact ground conditions, plus adjacent descriptions, to score surface suitability.

Distance Record

0–20 pts

Has the horse won or placed at this distance before? Proven stamina or speed over the trip is a strong predictor of future performance.

Trainer at Course

0–15 pts

Some trainers have dramatically higher strike rates at certain tracks. We check the trainer's record at today's specific venue to identify course specialists.

Jockey Record

0–10 pts

Jockey course experience matters — especially at tricky tracks. We score each jockey's win rate at the venue and factor in recent riding form.

Draw Bias

0–5 pts

On flat courses, stall position can be decisive. We analyse historical draw data to identify when a horse has a positional advantage or disadvantage.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Daily Nap select horse racing tips?

Our model scores every runner in every race across six factors: recent form, going preference, distance record, trainer strike rate at the course, jockey record and draw bias. Each horse receives a composite score out of 100 and the highest scorer becomes our selection.

What is the scoring model based on?

The scoring model is data-driven, using real Betfair and Racing Post statistics. It analyses historical race data including going records, distance form, trainer and jockey statistics at specific courses, and draw bias data. No guesswork — every score is calculated from verifiable data.

How is the NAP of the Day chosen?

The NAP is the single highest-scoring selection across all of the day's meetings. It must score significantly above the field to be nominated. The NAP represents our most confident pick and is published free every morning by 7:00 AM.

How are the race previews written?

The selections are made by a data-driven scoring model. The written analysis and race previews that accompany each tip are generated from the underlying data to explain the reasoning in plain English.
